With five full baths, two powder rooms, two bars and two kitchens we knew there would be many places to showcase unique and interesting tile throughout Design Home 2016. The problem, we thought, was could we find enough unique and varied selections to fill all these spaces so that not every tile looked like every other tile.

Some bathrooms required two tiles while others required three. So we needed a lot of tile and unique and interesting tile. Luckily our tile sponsor was MS International (MSI) and their Philadelphia distributor Bell Floor Covering. They had an “enormously vast” (vaster than vast) selection of materials from which to choose.

So with the developer and his staff (who ordered samples and carried them all) we sifted through hundreds of tiles to come up with the right solutions in each space. We ended up choosing some natural stone and marble tiles, some porcelain tile, some glass tile, and even a stainless steel tile. Sizes, shapes and colors varied as well. In the end the tile became a great topic of conversation with many of our tour attendees. The tile was a real show stopper.

Thank you Bell Floor Covering and MS International. And thank you to Theresa and Alyssa of US Construction for doing the “heavy lifting” with the tile!

Pick up the December issue of Philadelphia magazine (arriving in late November) to see the Design Home 2016 feature and photos.
